There are three police stations in the city of Bielefeld (North, East, South). There is also a city police station in the city center, as well as the two freeway police stations in Stukenbrock and Herford.
The staff of the Bielefeld police headquarters currently comprises
1,160 police officers and
207 administrative officers and employees.
In 2022, these colleagues will have

11,270 traffic accidents (including 2,453 accidents on the freeways),

24,261 criminal offenses
processed.
Criminal Investigation Department Bielefeld
The Bielefeld Police Headquarters is not only responsible for the city area, but also for the entire administrative district of Detmold as a so-called § -2 or § -4 authority in accordance with the Criminal Headquarters Ordinance for certain serious crimes and in special operational situations.
This primarily includes investigations following intentional homicides and in the area of state security. However, specially trained detectives from the Bielefeld police also investigate cases of economic and computer crime as well as organized crime.
This leads to cooperation with 3 public prosecutors' offices and 19 local courts.
