(hd) On Monday (21.04.2025) at 02:15 a.m., a police officer on patrol noticed an Opel car involved in an accident on Osnabrücker Straße at about the same level as Hansastraße in Bünde. The vehicle had extensive damage. The airbags were deployed. A total of six people were in the vehicle. In addition to two first responders, there were four people who were apparently in the car involved in the accident. Two people had minor injuries. When asked, the people involved explained that an unknown male person had been driving the vehicle. This person had fled the scene. No details were initially given about the course of the accident. Police investigations revealed that the car had already been involved in an accident on Hansastrasse in Bünde. It had apparently collided with a crash barrier there. Based on the traces found and witness statements, it was suspected that a 23-year-old man found in the car could have been the driver and thus the cause of the accident. As the suspect was under the influence of alcohol, a blood sample was ordered. The suspect does not have a valid driving license. The traffic commissioner's office has taken over the investigation. Possible witnesses to the accident are asked to contact the police on 05221 / 888-0.
