(hd) On Thursday evening (17.04.2025) at around 10:15 p.m., attentive witnesses observed a burglary at Obere Kreienbrede in Herford and informed the police. They were able to describe two suspicious persons who were on a balcony. The owners were on vacation at the time. Arriving police officers discovered that a burglary had indeed been committed. Extensive search measures were immediately initiated. A patrol car crew came across a suspicious person on Diebrocker Straße. On recognizing the police officers, the suspect initially ran away but was eventually caught up with. The suspect then tried to punch an officer several times with his fists. He was overpowered and provisionally arrested. During a physical search, several burglary tools were found on the suspect. The criminal investigation department took over the investigation. The suspect was brought before a magistrate, who issued an arrest warrant. Information about the second fugitive is being sought from the criminal investigation department on 05221 / 888-0.
