Erkelenz - A 10-year-old boy was riding his bicycle on Saturday morning (August 9) at around 10:30 a.m. near the bridge that crosses the B 57 and connects the Oerather Mühlenfeld with the Schulring. Before reaching the bridge, the child saw a woman walking her dog, which was not on a lead.
The stranger asked the boy to wait a moment to call the dog back. The dog followed, but was not put on a lead or restrained. After the 10-year-old drove on, the dog ran after him and bit him on the lower leg. The bite required medical treatment. The dog was probably a Border Collie or Australian Shepherd. Its coat was longer and had the colors black, white and light brown. The police are now asking the dog's owner or other witnesses to the incident to come forward.
