On Monday, April 21, a traffic accident occurred between two cyclists on the Jacobastrasse cycle path. A 61-year-old man from Heinsberg was riding on the Jacobastrasse cycle path from the direction of Hückelhoven towards Ratheim at around 10.30 am. Another cyclist turned onto the cycle path from a country lane and hit the front tire of the Heinsberg man. This caused the cyclist to fall over the handlebars but, according to initial findings, he did not sustain any injuries. His bicycle was damaged. The other man left the scene of the accident on his bike without giving his personal details. He was around 50 to 60 years old, wore dark clothing and was riding a silver bicycle.
In order to clarify what happened, the police are looking for witnesses who saw the accident and the previously unknown cyclist.
