"Through the night with intoxication goggles"
The night of action in Heinsberg-Himmerich was a complete success.

In cooperation with the youth welfare offices, the district health department, the fire department, the THW and the Heinsberg district police authority, an action night was held on Friday, May 13, on the premises of a disco in Himmerich. The campaign was aimed at young novice drivers and was intended to raise their awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

A reaction wall was located directly at the entrance to the disco area, where visitors could demonstrate their ability to react by touching alternating flashing lights. At the road safety advisors' stand, young adults had the opportunity to follow lines drawn on foils on the ground with so-called "noise goggles" and catch a tennis ball in the process.

In a rollover simulator, those interested were first properly strapped in and then three rollovers were simulated. At the end, they were hanging upside down in the vehicle and had to free themselves again.

The crate climbing challenge involved stacking a total of 15 crates on top of each other to a height of around five meters without losing their balance.

From there, they went through a side gate to a gravel parking lot outside the disco area. The Rhineland Traffic Institute was waiting here with a driving school vehicle. Those who had at least registered for driving lessons or had a valid driving license and were not under the influence of alcohol were able to drive through a small obstacle course with their goggles on.

During the entire event, promo scouts from the Heinsberg Youth Welfare Office used questionnaires to test the knowledge of disco visitors with regard to the consumption and side effects of alcohol. The night of action was rounded off by an "accident car", which was positioned directly in front of the entrance.

Firefighters simulated the rescue of an injured person from this crashed car.

The entire event was very well received by the visitors and will certainly be repeated in the future.
