Always there: the #LEBEN lettering.
"We are all united by one goal: to arrive. #LIVE. That means protecting the most valuable asset we have, our lives," says Christian Lübke, Deputy Head of the Traffic Directorate in Bielefeld. Fewer deaths and serious injuries in traffic accidents is the declared goal of Vision Zero and therefore the core of the nationwide specialist strategy for traffic.
Vision Zero, what does that mean? "Zero fatalities in road traffic. This may seem unreal at first, but it describes the need to sustainably and significantly reduce the number of people injured in road traffic," emphasizes Christian Lübke. Nine people were killed in traffic accidents in Bielefeld in 2023.
As a general rule, every traffic accident is one too many! Because behind every traffic accident is at least one person who has suffered damage or even painful loss. In almost every road accident, the misconduct of road users is often the cause of the most serious consequences and injuries to people. These traffic accidents and their consequences are preventable.
It is essential for the prevention of traffic accidents that road users live up to their responsibility by adhering to the traffic rules.
Prevention work therefore took center stage during the #LIFE campaign week. The aim was to convince road users in the long term that they must live up to their own responsibility on the roads. Awareness was raised in personal discussions and the potentially drastic consequences of misconduct were highlighted.
